AFTERAMBLE:
Here’s what engineers should invent:
Car (etc.) wheels/tires that replace the air with a soft, elastic, bouncy substance that will still provide a cushy ride, but this material has one unique property: when anything sharp punctures it, the offending nail or knife cuts only the substance it cuts — nothing else. (E.g., the wound of a nail will only affect a portion of the “tire” the size of the nail. Could be a substance of cells, each, say, 1,000th of a millimetre across. No more flat tires!
